NEVILLE TELLER, MBE
Writer
Radio/Audio Dramatist/Abridger

A contributor to BBC radio for many years, my work includes well over 250 abridgements for radio readings, some 50 radio dramatisations (7 reissued as audiobooks in the BBC Radio Collection), and about 250 audiobook abridgements for a variety of publishers including BBC Audiobooks, Chrome Audio, CSA Word, Heavy Entertainment, Hodder Headline, Macmillan, Naxos, Penguin, Random House and Time-Warner.

I've also undertaken a wide range of other radio work including two series for BBC Radio 3 about world orchestras, while for BBC Radio 2 I've provided a number of music documentaries as well as devising and scripting my own quiz - The ABC Quiz - for six years.

In 2011
For BBC Radio 4:
15-17 March as Afternoon Readings: abridgements of 3 "Extremely Entertaining Short Stories" by Stacy Aumonier.
5-9; 12-16 September: abridgement of "On Canaan's Side" by Sebastian Barry, read by Claire Bloom, as a Book at Bedtime.

For BBC Radio 4 Extra:
18 abridgements; 10 dramatisations; 2 features

For children my abridgements remain a continuing feature in the schedules of the
"The Four O'Clock Show".

I'm a past chairman of the Society of Authors' Broadcasting Committee, and of the Contributors' Committee of the Audiobook Publishing Association, and was made an MBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours, 2006 "for services to broadcasting and to drama."

In addition, I have been commenting on the Israel-Palestine scene for some thirty years. I have been published in a variety of journals and on line, and for some time ran the column "Edmund Owen's Israel". In 2008 I published a collection of these pieces, together with some poetry, letters, short stories and a radio drama, under the title: "One Man's Israel".

On 1 June 2011, I published "One Year in the History of Israel and Palestine," a blow-by-blow account of the events of 2010 as they impacted on the determined effort, led by President Barack Obama, to resolve the Israel-Palestine situation and the wider Middle East conflict.

"One Year in the History of Israel and Palestine", which starts on 1 January and ends on 31 December 2010, traces the progress of efforts to bring Israelis and Palestinians to the negotiating table, recording the hopes and the setbacks as they occurred. It traces both the depressing cynicism of many about the prospects of success, and the uplifting determination of a few to maintain the process, whatever the setbacks.

Further details of both books are in the "Publications" section of this website.
